Why municipal water utilities choose HDPE
Ductile iron and asbestos cement mains leak at every joint and corrode from the inside out — Africa-wide non-revenue water losses average 35–40%. Every leak is a public health risk and a billing hole. Utilities need a pipe that runs 50–100 years between failures, doesn't corrode in aggressive soil, and joins without rubber gaskets.
Why HDPE PE100 wins on potable water
PE100 is heat-fused into a leak-proof monolithic line. It will not rust, scale or accept biofilm the way iron does, so finished-water quality stays clean from pump house to customer tap. Design life is 50–100 years; in service since the 1970s, oldest PE pipes are still passing hydrostatic test today. Trenchless install (HDD, pipe bursting, sliplining) lets you re-line a city block without digging up the street.
